About the artist

Lucia is a Slovak-born artist who grew up in Brno, Czech Republic and relocated permanently to Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, in 2010. She studied Aesthetics and Cultural Studies at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, and and has exhibited around Europe and recently Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Pensychnant gallery, Circular Art Space, Sprouts Art, Sussex Contemporary and Colonnade House.
Her work encompasses abstract and representational painting and drawing with a strong colourist verve and symbolism that evoke emotional realism. Growing up under the communism in the former Czechoslovakia has made the theme of freedom, injustice, and peace an important part of her work.
