The paintings in the Brighton series are seeing the city from unusual viewpoints and capturing the atmosphere of the different faces of its night and day life and seaside facade. It's an ongoing project which started a few years ago. I have painted various locations that I found interesting, some were from a sketch, some from a photograph, to capture the moment and lighting when passing by. The physical and time distance from the scene then allowed me to create a new reality by stylizing the scene and altering colours to evoke something new.
